and effectively.Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for a
talented hardware engineer to make a meaningful impact to Alertus,
its customers, and the mass emergency notification industry. The
Hardware Engineer will report to the VP, Product Development, and
will be a key player in bringing our mission to life. In this role,
you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving
innovative life safety solutions.Our ideal candidate is an
experienced, detail-oriented person used to working on a team and
contributing to the ongoing success of the project.A Day in the
Life:
- Work with other engineers to develop new embedded electronics
and increase capabilities of legacy ones
- Design, prototype, and document new electronic components to be
used standalone or as parts of larger systems
- Create necessary packages for transfer to Production and
Implementations teams including bill(s) of materials, assembly
instructions, test plans, and user documentation
- Work with QA to ensure product developments meet requirements
and are ready to transition to Production team
- Provide high-level technical assistance to Sales team(s) for
existing and legacy product(s) as necessaryRequired Skills:
- Experience with digital and analog design techniques including
best practices for volume production repeatability and
reliability
- Electrical design experience using schematic capture tools
- Design experience with mixed voltage systems and various serial
protocols
- Experience with prototype debug tools such as oscilloscope and
logic analyzer as well as techniques to identify and resolve
issues
- Working experience with embedded firmware development and
repository systemsDesired Skills:
- Embedded WiFi knowledge/experience
- Knowledge of network operation and infrastructure
- Some experience working with mechanical design to develop
electronic housings
- Experience with low power design/battery powered design/design
to cost concepts
- Working knowledge of techniques to reduce
EMI/ESD/Susceptibility issues
- Strong written and oral communication skills with understanding
how to engage both technical and non-technical audiencesEducation
and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related
field
