- The American Red Cross is seeking an Executive Director to
support the District of Columbia within the National Capital and
Greater Chesapeake Region.
- WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:We are currently seeking a professional,
innovative, and enthusiastic Executive Director for our District of
Columbia Chapter. This position is an external-facing role focusing
on community relations/capacity building, fundraising, and board
leadership. This candidate must be comfortable being the face of
the Red Cross in the District. This position supports
region-partnered mission initiatives by providing facilitative
leadership to local teams and updating regional leadership on the
community's needs and perceptions. Incumbents will also be
responsible for strengthening relationships with our community
partners by educating them on the programs and opportunities the
American Red Cross offers. The Executive Director in this region is
responsible for regional engagement and fundraising goals set by
the National Headquarters team. This position reports to the
Regional Executive, serves as the primary liaison to the community,
and is supported by Community Volunteer Leaders and the Chapter
Board.
- Dynamic Leadership of the District of Columbia Chapter: You
will be the vital link between the American Red Cross and the
communities we serve, ensuring our presence is deeply felt and our
mission creates lasting change.
- Building Transformative Relationships: You will cultivate
meaningful relationships with influential community leaders,
businesses, philanthropists, and elected officials.
- Championing an Influential Board of Directors: You will develop
and lead a diverse, influential Board of Directors, empowering
these local champions to galvanize resources and support for the
Red Cross.
- Inspiring Strategic and Influential Leadership: You will
inspire and motivate a high-performing team of volunteers and
employees to exceed fundraising, blood collection, and mission
delivery goals.
- Creating a Culture of Inclusion and Belonging: You will foster
a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and belonging.
- Visionary Chapter Planning: You'll spearhead the chapter's
annual planning process, identifying key areas for community
impact.
- Key Regional Leadership Role: You will work closely with the
Regional CEO, playing an integral role in shaping the direction and
success of the American Red Cross in the region.
- WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:Education: A bachelor's degree or
equivalent experience is required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of
related experience or equivalent combination of education and
related experience required. Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on
a team. Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and
conferences throughout territory, state, and Red Cross system.
- Physical Requirements: Physical requirements are those present
in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is
required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs.
- WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE:Residents of the
District of Columbia strongly decided. Experience working with
community partners and other nonprofits. Strong fundraising
knowledge within the District of Columbia.
- SALARY INFORMATION: The salary range for this position is
$95,000 - 110,000 + incentives.
