Our team is committed to provide superior, personalized, and compassionate care to our patients, their newborns, and families.Responsibilities:--- Coordinates and manages care for patients, including those with complex needs. Provides lactation assessment, management, education and instruction.--- Evaluates patient's response to care and initiates independent and/or collaborative changes where appropriate.--- Performs consultations, rental or sale of lactation equipment and supplies, telephone triage, and prenatal education as appropriate.--- Offers post-delivery consultative care to patients: breastfeeding/chestfeeding, family bonding and planning, etc.--- Provides lactation support to all patients in sometimes very challenging clinical and psychosocial circumstances, which may include bereavement of baby or post trauma recovery.--- Serves as an advocate for the patient at all times, communicating effectively with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers, .--- Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Experience:--- A minimum of two years of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care settingMinimum Education Requirement:--- Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement:--- Certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or achieved IBCLC within 1 year of hire.--- Current VA nursing licensure or eligible for VA nursing licensure--- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon startPreferred Qualifications:--- Current IBCLC certificationInova Job ID #661727.
