- Every other weekend
- Accepts 1st time travelers
- Patient Ratios: 4-5 based on pt acuity
- Float required: Y
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Required Skills: Cardiac Telemetry, MS/Tele, Telemetry,
Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias,
Telemetry - on the unit monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams, IV
insulin protocols, Blood Product Administration, Central line
care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line
management, Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration,
CVA, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleuravac, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow
Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Nasal Cannula ,
Non-invasive airway management, Oxygen face masks
- Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- *Peritoneal Dialysis
- *Telemetry (RN to interpret & document rhythm)
- *Non-titratable Drips include: Amiodarone, Diltilizem
Cardiazem, Amiodarone & Lasix.
- *Heparin - Heparin drip nursing protocol
- *Code Team Responders (recorders & time keepers)
- *Stroke certified unit
- - Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4, but RN should be
expected to take 1:5 based on acuity and downgrades

- PCU/Telemetry Cardiac Monitoring - Admits from NWH ED, direct
admits from Grace Medical Center, transfers from non-tele units:

be AHA Provider Certification (Instructor card now acceptable); RQI

- CCS: Please open UD to see if/how many Stroke and Trauma CEUs
are required. Check under 'Other' and 'Additional Skills'
- NIHSS Counts towards the annual requirement if completed within
the year. (NIHSS is typically worth 2 hours - Traveler will need to
complete additional stroke credit hours to complete the full 4 or 8
hours required).
