Job Description:
In collaboration with the DHY program director, the academic
coordinator oversees didactic instruction in the Dental Hygiene
(DHY) program at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), to include
but not limited to quality assurance of instruction, instructional
over-site of dental hygiene part-time faculty, reviewing and
updating program manuals, ensuring course content is up to date for
instruction, assisting the DHY clinical coordinator in supervising
students in the dental clinic, and monitoring student retention and
completion. The academic coordinator actively engages with students
and participants in events and orientations, assists in the
coordination of program surveys, program and course level
assessment, and program analysis and technology integration. The
academic coordinator communicates concerns about part-time faculty
and/or student progress to the DHY program director. Additional
duties include but not limited to, instruction in a variety of
formats including classroom, lab, the AACC Dental Clinic, special
topics courses, on-line instruction and coordinating and providing
tutoring. The academic coordinator also assures compliance with
college, program, CDC, OSHA standards, ADA guidelines, and
accrediting agency standards. This is a staff position that
requires an in-person presence. The academic coordinator teaches 30
- 36 FLH in the DHY curriculum per academic year, including the
summer term and for reporting purposes to the Commission on Dental
Accreditation (CODA) will be identified as faculty. Anne Arundel

Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is
not available for any position. Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd
of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date
occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of

the list of states of employment eligibility. Job Duties and
Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum Development: In
consultation with the DHY director, oversee the programs didactic
and laboratory instruction to include but not limited to teaching
and supervision of students in the AACC Dental classroom and
laboratory courses, review, develop and revise course content, and
development of course and laboratory schedules. Assist the DHY
clinical coordinator in supervising students in the dental clinic.
Curriculum and Learning Outcome Assessment: In coordination with
the DHY director, ensures the effectiveness of didactic and
laboratory instruction components of the curriculum. Maintains
academic records for first- and second-year DHY students and
monitors student progression toward completion. Manages the
creation, distribution, collection, and analysis of surveys from
students, graduates, and employers to assess learning and program
outcomes. Conducts program and course assessments to comply with
AACC's Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA) and CODA standards.
Recruitment and Advisement: Conducts program information sessions
and attends marketing events to promote the program and recruit
students. Actively participates as a member of the AACC Dental
Hygiene Advisory Board and serves on School of Health Sciences and
College committees. Advises students throughout their progression
in the program, providing guidance and support to ensure their
success. Laboratory and Equipment Maintenance: Assist the program
director and clinical coordinator with performing routine and
regular maintenance checks on laboratory equipment to include but
not limited to, maintaining laboratory records and repair logs and
coordinating with vendors for repairs. Recommend new equipment to
the DHY director and consult with Laboratory Services on ordering
supplies and managing hazardous waste for the clinic and
laboratory. Other: Performs other duties as assigned by the
Director of Dental Education, Assistant Dean, and/or Dean.
Maintains licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State
of Maryland, including completing continuing education coursework,
CPR certification, and immunization compliance. Required
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of two years of
Dental Hygiene teaching experience (or equivalent) using a variety
of instructional strategies. Must have a Maryland license to
practice dental hygiene, current CPR certification, and certified
to administer local anesthesia. Excellent oral, written, and
interpersonal communication skills, including but not limited to
delivering lectures, presentations, and workshops. Demonstrated
ability to work collegiately with a culturally diverse group of
faculty, staff, students, and community members on a regular basis
Ability to work flexible 40-hour weekly schedule, including some
evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the DHY program
and SHS. Ability to travel to include but not limited to attending
conferences, workshops, etc. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
software and technology and equipment associated with the practice
of Dental Hygiene. Strong organizational, leadership, and
communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple
tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Preferred
Qualifications: Experience with curriculum design and course
content evaluation, writing and implementing program standard
operating procedures, and ensuring compliance with health and
safety regulations. Familiarity with Dental industry and CODA
accreditation standards/guidelines. Certified to administer nitrous
oxide. Experience teaching in-person, online and hybri Inventory
Management Experience. Master's degree preferred. Employment Type:
