    Job Description:
    We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Pediatric Nursing Team at University of Maryland Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, MD. The role is located in the Pakula unit, specializing in pediatric care, and requires dedicated nurses to provide exceptional care to a variety of pediatric patients.
    The position offers both Day and Night shifts (3x12-hour shifts). The successful candidate will work within a pediatric environment, caring for children with a variety of conditions including prematurity, cardiac defects, feeding issues, and more. The ideal candidate should have experience in pediatric nursing, particularly in PCU, Prematurity, ROP, and Trach care.

    Key Responsibilities:
    --- Provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients, including assessments, administering medications, and carrying out medical treatments as per the care plan.
    --- Monitor patient conditions closely and respond to changes in vital signs, ensuring prompt and accurate interventions as needed.
    --- Work closely with pediatricians, specialists, and other nursing staff to ensure coordinated and holistic care for each patient.
    --- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to adjust treatment plans based on patient progress.
    --- Provide specialized care for pediatric patients, especially those with prematurity, cardiac defects, feeding issues, and other pediatric conditions such as NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) and iatrogenic NAS.
    --- Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator support for pediatric patients is essential.
    --- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatments, medications, and any changes in condition within the facility's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
    --- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements in the care of pediatric patients.
    --- Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and the steps to ensure optimal care after discharge.
    --- Act as a liaison for families, providing support, empathy, and clear communication throughout the patient's hospital stay.

    --- Unit Name: Pakula, 2nd Floor, Baltimore campus
    --- Bed Count: 32 beds
    --- Patient Ratio: 1 RN for every 3-4 patients
    --- Specialties: Pediatric care with a focus on PCU (Progressive Care Unit), Prematurity, ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity), Cardiac defects, Feeding issues, NAS, and Tracheostomy care.

    Required Experience:
    Minimum of 2 years of Pediatric Nursing experience, especially in PCU and pediatric care settings.
    Experience in caring for patients with prematurity, cardiac defects, feeding issues, and trach care.

    Required Certifications:
    --- Active Maryland RN License or compact state license.
    --- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
    --- CPI certification

    Preferred Experience:
    --- Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator support in pediatric patients.
    --- Must hold a valid RN license with at least 2 years of pediatric nursing experience.

    Additional Requirements:
    --- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required by facility.
    --- Flu Vaccine: Required with no exemptions.

    Travelers:
    --- Travelers must live at least 50 miles away from the facility.
    --- Candidates should be willing to float between hospital units and should not have any float restrictions.
