future land use planning of one of the most dynamic local
governments in Australia.About the RoleThe City of Wanneroo's
Strategic Land Use Planning and Environment team is seeking a
full-time, permanent Strategic Planner to work on a variety of land
use planning related projects. The team is responsible for
developing the City's local planning framework to guide land use
planning and development in one of the fastest growing local
governments in Australia. Current projects include delivering the
City's first local planning strategy, developing a new local
planning scheme, preparing a precinct plan to guide redevelopment
in the Wanneroo Town Centre, undertaking scheme amendments, and
preparing and reviewing local planning policies.About YouThe
successful appointee will have a broad understanding of strategic
land use planning that they will further develop by working on a
range of projects. They will also enjoy working in a busy and
change-driven environment. The successful appointee will be able to
demonstrate through their resume and covering letter that they meet
the following capabilities:
- Understanding of urban planning and its general application in
legislation and planning practice in the Western Australian
context;
- Research and report writing skills, including the ability to
read and interpret legislation and government policy;
- Ability to produce strategic land use planning documents that
are user-friendly and easy to understand;
- Communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a
range of internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to work with the team to coordinate public engagement
including information sessions and preparing a range of engagement
materials.Qualifications, Requirements and Experience:Tertiary
qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or eligibility for
full membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (or
significant progression towards completion of Urban and Regional
Planning Tertiary Qualification). Relevant experience in a similar
role is desirable. A or C Class Driver's License is desirable.About
