ROLEWe are seeking an experienced Juvenile Justice Subject
Matter Expert to support the Office of Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) in its mission to monitor and
improve state compliance with the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention (JJDP) Act. Your responsibilities will center on
providing subject matter expertise and strategic oversight to
advance compliance auditing, data analysis, and technical
assistance efforts related to juvenile justice programs.This is a

today!RESPONSIBILITIESI. Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as subject matter expert on tasks related to compliance
monitoring, data analysis, and juvenile justice policy
- Provide subject matter expertise in areas including statistical
data collection and analysis, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention (JJDP) Act core requirements, juvenile and adult
correctional facilities, performance audits, and Generally Accepted
Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS)
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in the core requirements
of the JJDP Act
- Conduct performance audits in accordance with GAGAS
- Independently execute technical assignments within defined
scope areasII. Audit Execution & Support
- Assist in carrying out on-site performance audits of state
compliance monitoring systems
- Deliver supportive services throughout the audit process,
including during site visits
- Provide post-audit support in preparing reports that document
OJJDP's audit findings
- Assist OJJDP staff in drafting audit reports and summarizing
key observationsIII. Data Analysis & Interpretation
- Provide expertise to OJJDP in conducting analysis of annual
core requirements data submitted by states
- Support OJJDP in using data analysis to conduct risk analysis
and assessment
- Assist in applying data findings to aggregate reporting
needs
- Contribute to internal OJJDP processes through the
interpretation of state-submitted compliance dataIV. Compliance
Reporting System Support
- Provide expertise to OJJDP in enhancing the online core
requirements compliance reporting system
- Assist OJJDP in maintaining and refining the compliance
reporting system's functionality
- Offer guidance on the implementation of system improvementsV.
User Support & Technical Assistance
- Guide system users during reporting and submission periods
- Serve in a helpdesk capacity to address user questions and
concerns
- Facilitate updates to technical assistance materials for system
users
- Revise resource documents to support user understanding and
navigation
- Support the planning and delivery of training and technical
assistance (TTA) to OJJDP stakeholdersVI. Post-Audit
Coordination
- Track the resolution of audit findings and monitor follow-up
actions
- Coordinate with states to collect responses and supporting
documentation
- Ensure timely closure of outstanding audit recommendations and
deliverablesKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of juvenile justice or related programming
- Knowledge of the core requirements of the Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards
(GAGAS) and performance audit protocols
- Ability to manage audit planning, logistics, and documentation
in coordination with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to translate complex information from diverse sources
into relevant, digestible communications and resources
- Excellent written and verbal communication
skillsBACKGROUND
- Experience with training and technical assistance programs is
required
- Experience in statistical data collection, analysis methods,
and interpretation of findings preferredEDUCATIONThe ideal
candidate must meet one of the following education and experience
combinations:
- Master's degree and at least 5 years of experience in social
science or a similar discipline
- Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in social
science or a similar disciplineLOCATION
