research and analysis of new business to the Ethics Committee,
Business Intake Committee, and Firm attorneys.

Reviewing new file requests and amendments to existing matters for
quality assurance and ensuring information provided is in
accordance with established policies and procedures
Performing conflict searches on new file requests, identifying
potential conflicts of interest, conducting internal and external
research on client entity, and analyzing and summarizing findings
for review of the Ethics Committee and Business Intake
Committee
Conducting in-depth research of conflict parties using external
databases to identify any issues or inconsistencies with
information provided for file openings and amendments to existing
matters; analyzing findings, interpreting and summarizing search
results
Coordinating with Ethics and Business Intake Committees, legal and
administrative staff to ensure new file requests and change tasks
are completed accurately and in accordance with established
policies and procedures; prioritizing opening of new files,
preliminary conflict checks and review of change tasks to
coordinate the review and approval of rush requests
Monitoring Conflict Check Requests and Client Intake Approvals
email boxes for incoming requests; performing conflict searches in
database and response to requests in a timely manner
Responding to general phone inquiries related to file opening,
conflicts and client matter change tasks; assisting administrative
staff with opening new files and processing change tasks

A bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate or equivalent
experience; a minimum of one year related law firm experience,
preferred
Working knowledge of MS Office products including Outlook, Word,
and Excel
Experience with logic based searching
Strong communication skills; ability to interact in both written
form and orally with all levels of the organization
Strong organizational skills; ability to work independently with
general supervision and meet routine deadlines
Ability to prioritize work; adept at shifting priorities on a
routine basis
Flexibility to work overtime as needed
Pay Range for Candidates in Washington, DC:
$50,000 -$58,000 per year
The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable
in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is
willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will
be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and
location.
