Job Description
General SummaryUnder moderate supervision, the Radiological
Technologist I will perform radiographic procedures at a technical
level not requiring constant supervision. The employee will
demonstrate a professional approach in their work, with emphasis on
patient care and in their technical abilities to complete the
requested exams promptly, while still maintaining patient safety.
Be responsive in the need to use proper radiation safety
principles, both for the safety of the patient as well as
themselves and co-workers. Patients served include infant through
adult-geriatric.MissionAll employees are responsible for extending

services to the communities we serve.Reporting RelationshipsReports
directly to the Manager of Radiology Services. No direct
supervision; requires a complete self starter; monitoring schedule,
following imaging protocols necessary to obtain desired results.
Functions under the direction of the Radiology Director and the
Medical Director of the Radiology Department.
Qualifications
High School degree or equivalent required. Graduation from an
approved and accredited radiologic educational program required.
Registration from the American Registry for Radiologic
Technologists and license as a Radiological Technologist in the
state of Maryland is required. Current BLS certification or
obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.Working
ConditionsWork is high demand. May be exposed to frequent
interruptions and multiple demands. May be physically or verbally
abused by patients. Expected to work on rotating shifts including
weekends and holidays as necessary. May be required to rotate
on-call duties for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as
necessary. Occupational exposure: Must practice established
radiation safety principles; wear and maintain film/ring badges in
the prescribed manner; wearing of lead apparel. Potential for
regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials,
requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and
safe handling practices. This position has been classified as
medium exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual
respirator mask fitting.Physical RequirementsStanding, walking,
stooping, bending (5-8 hours/shift). Reaching for and handling of
equipment and supplies (5-8 hours/shift) (15-20 lb.). Visual acuity
for viewing video display monitors and reading patients charts (5-8
hours/shift). Acute hearing required to assimilate oral
communication from patient, physician, family members, or other
staff members approximately 90% of the time. Manual dexterity for
operating equipment. Pushing, pulling, transferring and maneuvering
stretchers and wheelchairs, with or without patients or ancillary
equipment, occasionally with the assistance of others (5-8
hours/shift, weight may exceed 100 lb.), in accordance with Safe
Patient Lifting policy.
