Purpose of JobThe Air and Radiation Administration is recruiting
for a Regulatory and Compliance Engineer II. The primary purpose of
this position is to review technical engineering evaluations and to
ensure that stationary sources of air pollution in Maryland operate
in compliance with all applicable air quality regulations with
focus on the Maryland Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS).
The Air Quality Compliance Program works to ensure compliance at
stationary sources of air pollution. The Compliance staff conducts
inspections, responds to complaints, provides compliance assistance
and pursues enforcement actions when necessary. The working
conditions of this position include exposure to uncomfortable or
unpleasant surroundings. Work involves special physical demands
such as lifting 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, etc. Work also
requires use of protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, mask,
etc.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: A Bachelor's degree in
engineering or architecture from an accredited college or
university.Experience: One year of engineering or architectural
experience in pollution control, waste remediation, resource
conservation, environmental protection, or public health and safety
to ensure regulatory compliance with engineering or architectural
standards, practices, principles and methods.Notes:
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree
from an accredited college or university with at least 20 credit
hours in engineering and two years performing engineering or
architectural work in pollution control, waste, resource
conservation, environmental protection, public health and safety,
or related areas for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree
in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or
university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a current
Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the
State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements for
the required education and experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service
experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and
Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture
specialty codes in the Environmental field of work on a
year-for-year basis for the required experience and
education.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSIt is preferred that
the selected candidate has the following: A bachelor's degree in
Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND
CERTIFICATIONSEmployees in this classification may be assigned
duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees
assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle
operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.SPECIAL

call-in twenty-four hours a day, and, therefore, may be required to
